My Travels to Spain, Mexico, and New Orleans
During my spring semester of 2007, I participated in the study abroad program in Valencia, Spain. In Valencia I took four Spanish classes, lived with a host family, and daily immersed myself in the culture of Spain. I obtained many new learning opportunities while I was there. I became more proficient in the target language, was able to take classes with native speaking teachers, and submerged myself in a different culture for over four months. Living in Spain opened my eyes to living a life different way than my own.

Veracruz, Mexico
In the summer of 2006, I went on a mission trip with my home church to Veracruz, Mexico. While I was there I walked through the mountains with native speakers and shared my testimony in Spanish. Sometimes there was translation from English to Spanish to an indigenous dialect, Nahuatl.
New Orleans, Louisiana
In December of 2006, I went to New Orleans, Louisiana to do help with the hurricane relief after the disaster of hurricane Katrina. It was a life changing experience to meet people that suffered from such a horrible disaster and see how their lives have changed and how they tried to stay in high hopes through such turmoil.
